Egyptian rider Abdel Said won the Abu Dhabi FEI World Cup Grand Prix, marking the end of the CSI4* Abu Dhabi Int’l Show Jumping Event 2018 week.
Being the first 2018 FEI event of the year, Abdel Said got an excellent presentation with his 11-year-old mare Hope van Scherpen Donder (Quadrillo x Balou du Rouet), taking the victory in a class made up of 31 pairs on course designed by German Frank Rothenberger.
Two rounds were played with a firm demonstration of Abdel Said, who stopped the clock at 39.91 seconds thus securing 80 World Ranking Points and results exceeded the Belgian rider Pieter Clemens with his 9-year-old stallion Calvin Nyze Z (Calvaro Z x Heartbreaker) in time of 40.45 seconds.
While the perfect Two Rounds were extended to ninth place, the top five qualifiers of the World Cup were Nigel Coupe of Great Britain finishing third with 15-year-old gelding Golvers Hill (Ricardo Z x Clover Hill) in 40.69 seconds, fourth place was René Tebbel of Ukraine with the 11-year-old stallion Cosun (Up to Date x Cavalier) in 41.52 seconds and fifth place Shane Breen of Ireland with the 12-year-old stallion Can Ya Makan (Canturo x Fara) in time of 42.16 seconds.
The best seed and World No. 8 Henrik von Eckermann of Sweden could not get past his first round after shoot down a fence to totaling 4 fouls in 81.57 seconds with the 16-year-old gelding Cantinero (Cento x Cash) in 18th place.
