Saudi rider Abdullah Al Sharbatly took the €24,700 Abu Dhabi Sports Council victory to close the second day at Al Shira’aa International Horse Show.
The third FEI class had a jump-off round to decide the victory of Abdullah Al Sharbatly, who completed his course in 36.73 seconds with the 13-year-old gelding Crazy Quick (Chacco-Blue x Quick Star) owned by Jaroslaw Skrzyczynski & Izabela Dyr, with which he took 50 World Ranking points.
Adding Abdullah Al Sharbatly to his second 2018 FEI victory, he overtook Belgian rider Pieter Clemens with his 11-year-old stallion Corelli (For Pleasure x Burggraaf) to finish in 37.88 seconds, while third place went to also Saudi rider Ramey Al Duhami with the 10-year-old gelding Ted (Waranta x Jalisco B) in 38.41 seconds.
The 6 classified riders to the jump-off would complete their double clear rounds, being the fourth place for Mohammed Al Kumeiti of the United Arab Emirates in 38.69 seconds with the 12-year-old gelding Newton Abbot (Converter x Indoctro), Frederic David of France was fifth in 42.52 seconds with Equador van’t Roosakker (Reve x Chin Chin Nabab) and also representing the United Arab Emirates Sheikha Latifa Al Maktoum in 48.64 seconds finished sixth with the 10-year-old stallion Cobolt (Cellestial x Quebec).
For the Latino Ranking Brazilian rider Luiz Felipe de Azevedo Filho completed a formidable regular round with the 12-year-old stallion Chacito (Chacco-Blue x Daimler), but exceeded the time allowed by 74 hundredths and was penalized with 1 fault to be out of the tiebreaker in seventh place.
