The closing day at 2017 CSI 5* Longines Global Champions Tour Shanghai kicked off with the swift display of Saudi Abdullah Al Sharbatly, who grew up with his 14-year-old gelding Woulon L (Toulon x G.Ramiro Z) could overcome by 2 hundredths of a second Dutchman Leopold van Asten.

The result allowed Al Sharbatly to score 50 World Ranking points and 45 points for van Asten with 10-year-old mare VDL Groep Miss Untouchable (Chacco-Blue x Aldatus) recording a time of 61.91 seconds. For third place US Olympic medalist Laura Kraut completed her field in 62.55 seconds alongside 10-year-old gelding Confu (Contact Me x Cambridge), closing the group of Top 5 former World Number One and also Olympic medalist Scott Brash in fourth place in time of 63.47 seconds with 13-year-old mare Hello Annie (Contendro I x For Pleasure), being fifth German Philip Houston in 64.87 seconds with 13-year-old mare Kannella (Kannan x Quick Star).

For Latino Ranking only participated Mexican rider Jose Alfredo Hernandez Ortega reaching 22dn position in field of 8 faults and 74.95 seconds with 16-year-old gelding Grupo Prom Jack (Ovatio x Heartbreaker).
