The first day of the FEI competitions at the CSI 5* Madrid was for the British man Ben Maher and his 11-year-old mare Diva II (Kannan x Berlioz) in the UAX Trophy dispute with €92,000.

After a regular round with 48 pairs, only 11 would return to the tiebreaker in a complicated and technical course, being undoubtedly one of the main factors of time. With a solid second round, Ben Maher managed to regain the victory with the 11-year-old mare of his co-ownership with Tatiana Korsakov, stopping the clock in 33.77 seconds, to beat German star Ludger Beerbaum and the 13-year-old mare Chiara (Contender x Coronado 3) owned by Madeleine Winter-Schulze, standing only 22 hundredths of a second up in a round of 33.99 seconds.

Defined the first two positions, the Australian rider Edwina Tops-Alexander would occupy the third place with the 13-year-old mare Lintea Tequila (Campbell vs. Corrado II), completing the jump-off in 34.67 seconds. The Top five in the disputed trophy was  Spaniard Sergio Alvarez Moya in the fourth place registering 35.55 seconds with Unicstar de l’Aumone and fifth Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum of Germany with Comanche (Coupe de Coeur 2 x Baloubet du Rouet ) in 36.05 seconds.

For the Latin Ranking two participants encouraged the regular round, being the Colombian Rene Lopez the best placed in the 19th with the 9-year-old mare Twig du Velillos (Diamant de Semilly x Tornado d’Hotot), making a round of 4 fouls in 67.99 seconds out of points and the Brazilian Yuri Mansur was eliminated with 10-year-old mare Babylotte (Dollar du Murier vs. Concorde).
