Belgian rider Benny Naessens shone at home and showing the way of €24,700 Prijs Equnews at the opening of the CSI2* Opglabbeek – Sentower Park.
With a total of 70 pairs on course designed by German Marco Hesse, the Prijs Equnews was played, where a high efficiency of 27 riders would qualify for the jump-off and being commanded by home rider Benny Naessens with his 9-year-old mare Just In Time (Nonstop x Almox Prints J) owned by Thienpont Bert.
Completing Benny Naessens his jump-off round in 37.37 seconds to show the way of victory and securing 50 World Ranking points, the Belgian rider was followed in second place by Jonna Ekberg of Sweden with the 9-year-old mare Jasmien Vd Bisschop (Larino x Chin Chin) in 38.31 seconds, while third place was held by Johnny Pals from Holland in 38.33 seconds with the 13-year-old gelding Abache HL (Cantos x Lux).
The Top 5 of the first FEI event at Sentower Park was completed by a fourth place tie between Maelle Martin of France with the 11-year-old gelding Tempo du Plix (Conterno Grande x Narcos II) and Dutch rider Lisa Nooren accompanied by the 10-year-old gelding Dienellie (Berlin x Lupicor), being the time for both riders of 38.49 seconds.
For the Pan American Reed Kessler Ranking of the United States of America finished in ninth place next to the 13-year-old mare Ks Stakki (Stakkato Gold x Silvio I) in a time of 38.92 seconds, adding World Ranking points as well as the former Latino Ranking leader Marlon Modolo Zanotelli of Brazil in tenth place, along with the 9-year-old gelding El Dorado (Indorado x Heartbreaker) in 39.29 seconds.
