The first class of CSI 2* Valkenswaard had as main protagonist the Irish rider Bertram Allen, who takes 50 World Ranking points with his victory, in its customary exhibition of speed, where today still continues being boasting the title of fastest rider of the world.
Dominating the extensive class with 66 pairs on course designed by Belgian Luc Musette, Bertram Allen completed his jump-off round in 35.42 seconds, which managed to take a slight advantage, before a close group of classified between second to fourth place. In second place Michael Hughes of United States of America stopped the clock in 36.30 seconds next to 13-year-old stallion Zerlin M (Berlin x Concorde), followed by 5 hundredths of a second slower by Egyptian Abdel Said with 8-year-old stallion Jackson de Regor (Vagabond de la Pomme x Querlybet Hero) and in fourth place Irishman Darragh Kenny with 10-year-old gelding Bolero 111 (Chatman x Darco) recording a time of 36.44 seconds.
It was not until 27th place that one of the top three seedings of competition with the German Marcus Ehning, World No. 7, would arrive, obtaining the faster course of 4 faults. His compatriot Daniel Deusser World No. 3, was in 34th position also with 4 fouls and British Scott Brash without hurrying very much his rhythm in 46th position totaled 5 faults.
For Latino Ranking Brazilian Eduardo Menezes participated by knocking down a pole in his regular round next to 11-year-old gelding Acollaro (Acodetto I x Calvaro), finishing in 32nd position, while by Pan American Ranking after the outstanding performance by Michael Hughes, Reed Kessler follow in 37th position, Hilary Mc Nerney was 41st, Canadian Yann Candele in 42nd, Emily Short in 62nd and Lucy Davis retired.
