The opening of the 2017 season at the Longines Global Champions Tour was the first winner of the Irish Bertram Allen, after dominating in two phases the course designed by the Italian Uliano Vezzani for a total of 51 pairs.
Getting a time of 26.37 seconds with 13-year-old gelding Quiet Easy 4 (Quidam’s Rubin x Zapateado), Allen took 50 World Ranking points and €8,250 to occupy the first position, managing to surpass the representative of house Gonzalo Azcárraga. Being undoubtedly the main attraction for the Mexican public, Azcárraga was in second place being the best representative of the Latino Ranking by stopping the clock in 27.59 seconds with 11-year-old mare Quiet Nice 5 (Quality x Landor S) awarding 45 FEI Ranking points.
The disputed class was completed in Top 5 by the Belgians Jerome Guery with Garfield of Tiji Des Templiers (Quasimodo Z x Goldspring de Lauzelle) and Nicola Philippaerts with Ustina Sitte (Clinton x Parco) occupying the third and fourth position, distancing itself by only 1 Hundredth of second by recording 27.67 seconds and 27.68 seconds each. Closed for the fifth place the Mexican Enrique González with 13-year-old gelding Quilebo du Tillard (For Pleasure x Quat’Sous), marking a time of 28.17 seconds that was worth to him to add 30 World Ranking points.
Colombian Carlos López also took part for the Latino Ranking and finished in 12th place being inside the points, while Mexicans Patricio Pasquel and Andrés Azcárraga finished in 27th and 28th, Yuri Mansur of Brazil 30th, Antonio Chedraui of Mexico in 31st place and his fellowmen Jaime Azcárraga was in box 34th, closing the Mexicans Federico Fernandez and Antonio Maurer in place 36th and 44th.
