In a very exciting and closed final, the Colombian rider representing of Latino Ranking Carlos López from Colombia, completed his field in 65.54 seconds, thus achieving his first victory of the year in the Longines Global Champions Tour.
Under course design by Italian Uliano Vezzani, a total of 55 pairs animated the speed class that was presented by LECLERC, valid for individual results and also for the second round of the Global Champions League.
Being the main reference and getting the fastest round, Carlos López was presented with the 10-year-old mare Cuplandra (Upgrade x Metall) owned by S.A.S. Haras Des Grillons, signifying his second Tour win, second for his 2017 FEI record and fourth in his professional career, achieving a lead of 33 hundredths of a second before the Frenchman Roger Yves Bost “Bosty”, being accredited 130 World Ranking Points for the victory.
They followed him to complete Top 5 Roger Yves Bost with a time of 65.87 seconds in second place, performing with the 14-year-old mare Pegase du Murier (Adelfos x Le Tot de Semilly), for third place Darrgh Kenny of Ireland in 66.71 seconds with the 10-year-old gelding Charly Chaplin S (Harley Vdl x Burggraaf), fourth place with a time of 67.40 seconds was German rider Marcus Ehning with the 14-year-old gelding Pret A Tout (Hiram Chambertin X Stew Boy) and fifth-placed Belgian rider Olivier Philippaerts with the 11-year-old mare H&M Legend of Love (Landzauber x Corgraf) in 69.96 seconds.
Led by Carlos López, the representatives of Latino Ranking, Brazilian Eduardo Menezes completed the delegation in a very complicated field of 17 fouls, which sent him to the 53rd position with the 10-year-old mare Chacgrano (Chacco-Blue x Grannus).
