Under the Leon Melchior Open Stallion Competition held at a height of 1.45m to start the week CSI5* Mechelen, Belgium; Germany’s Christian Ahlmann was the big winner of the special class for stallions with the horse Caribbean Z (Caritano x Canabis Z) a 8-years old stallion and owned by Stoeterij Zangersheide.


A total of 30 pairs participating in the competition, 18 return to the jump-off where Ahlmann mark an unbeatable time of 32.45 seconds and beat the Dutchman Harrie Smolders and his 11-years old horse Emerald (Diamant seed x Carthago) owned by Eurohorse  Axel Verlooy BVBA, marking slate time 32.80 seconds in what ended up being a close fight for first place.


The third place was occupied by the Italian Lorenzo de Luca maintaining strong fight for the top spot, but ultimately complete its field in 33.17 seconds, 72 hundredths of a second behind the winner with the horse Balou Coeur Joye (Balou du Rouet x Argentinus) owned by Stephex Stables.
