Belgian Constant van Paesschen won the CSI 2* Grand Prix with 30,000 Euros to be distributed at the Oliva Nova Beach & Resort belonging to the Spring MET 2017 series and awarded 50 World Ranking points with the 9-year-old stallion Isidoor van de Helle (Canturo X Qredo de Paulstra) owned by Stoeterij Van De Lhelle.
With the participation of 68 pairs, only 17 of them would return for the tiebreaker, where van Paesschen stopped the clock in 45.94 seconds to overcome Olympic gold medalist in London 2012 Steve Guerdat of Switzerland, who got along with the 11-year-old gelding Corbinian years (Cornet Obolensky x Pilot) in a time of 46.14 seconds.
The top five finishers completed by Germany’s Simone Blum in third place in 46.88 seconds with the 10-year-old mare Dsp Alice (Askari x Landrebell), followed by Daniel Nelson of Great Britain and 13-year old gelding Newton Nickel (Wolfgang x Indoctro) registering 48.99 seconds, while fifth place was also for Great Britain with Louise Simpson and 11-year-old gelding Grafit (Kashmir Van Schuttershof x Manhattan) in time of 49,23 seconds.
For the Latin Ranking Carlos Cremona of Argentina did not get his classification to the jump-off, after that it demoted two poles and totaling 8 faults with the 12-year-old mare Flavourart Cortina (Chess x Swift 690) to finishing in the 46th position in a time of 80.55 seconds.
