Dutch rider Daan Van Geel flew at home to take the first victory of the CSI3* Drachten, after dominating the €25,000 Roelofsen Horse Trucks Prize.
With the participation of 63 pairs in the speed class on course designed by Har van de Venne, home rider Daan Van Geel stopped the clock in 58.63 seconds with the 10-year-old gelding Djam (Canturano x Carthago Z) to get 50 World Ranking Points and first week’s victory.
Likewise for Daan Van Geel represented his first 2018 FEI victory, managing to maintain distance over the former Latin Ranking leader Marlon Modolo Zanotelli of Brazil, who finished in second place with the 9-year-old gelding El Dorado (Indorado x Heartbreaker) in time of 59.82 seconds.
For the best representative of the Latin Ranking and Panamerican Ranking Marlon Modolo Zanotelli, he secured 45 FEI Ranking points with his result, leaving the third place for Harm Lahde of Germany in 61.07 seconds with the 11-year-old mare Oak Grove’s Celebrity (Cassini II x Quidam De Revel).
Two of main Dutch international figures occupied fourth and fifth place, with Jur Vrieling remaining fourth next to the 10-year-old stallion Dallas VDL (Douglas x Heartbreaker) in 62.80 seconds and fifth was the flying Dutchman Gerco Schröder with the 10-year-old mare Glock’s Debalia (Numero Uno x Lupicor) in 63.13 seconds.
Also by Latin Ranking Brazilian rider Eduardo Damiani Filizola ranked 29th, completing his journey in 5 fouls with the 9-year-old mare Jella Van’T Kathof (Eldorado Van De Zeshoek x Calvados/Sable Rose) and Colombian rider Dayro Arroyave totaled 8 fouls in 47th place with the 10-year-old gelding Uciano De La Botte (Luccianno x Arpege Pierreville).
