The last meeting of the Ruby et Violette Series was won by Ireland’s Darragh Kenny who take his third win of the 2017 Winter Equestrian Festival.
With the 11-year-old gelding Billy Onslow (Billy Congo x Iroko) owned by Oakland Ventures LLC, Darragh Kenny dominated the $86,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge Cup Round 12 with a time of 33.33 seconds in the jump-off securing 80 FEI Ranking points. The complicated class that counted on the participation of 70 pairs, only 19 faced the winner, being escorted in the second position by the American Margie Engle with 13-year-old stallion Royce (Coffee au Lait x Grandilot) owned by Gledewifds Partners LLC, in time of 34.22 seconds.
The top five finishers were third place Nicole Walker of Canada recording 36.23 seconds with 12-year-old gelding Falco van Spkeveld (Toulon x Lys de Darmen), leaving a draw for fourth place between Jimmy Torano and Paris Sellon, both getting a time of 36.42 seconds, where Torano appeared with 9-year-old gelding Day Dream (Zento x Heartbreaker) and Sellon did it with 12-year-old mare Adare (Royal Bravour x Burggraaf).
For the Latin Ranking Pablo Barrios and Emanuel Andrade of Venezuela, as well as Eduardo Menezes of Brazil finished within FEI Ranking points. In the case of Barrios, best placed in tenth along with 14-year-old mare A S D Farfala (Hyo Dario x Furioso II) achieved a fast round of tiebreaker, but an aggressive turn cut the possibility of finishing second in 34.14 seconds. Menezes and 10-year-old stallion Chacgrano (Chacco-Blue x Grannus) finished 12th with 4 fouls in 35.58 seconds, while Andrade was 13th with 12-year-old mare Reus de la Nutria (Zandor Z x Kannan) with the same 4 fouls in time of 35.91 seconds.
