Colombian rider Dayro Arroyave took a new FEI victory by dominating the Flandria Rent Grand Prix of the CSI2* Lier – Azelhof at Belgium.
After completing a regular round with 65 pairs on course designed by Belgian Marc Jozef Vygh, a total of 17 riders would return to the tie-breaker round with Dayro Arroyave from Colombia placing the Latino note, in what represented a new 2017 FEI victory for the South American rider.
Showing the way in a fasted round with the 10-year-old mare Adele (Cassini I x Corrado I) owned by De Roock Gilbert Bvba, Dayro Arroyave secured 50 World Ranking Points in a class that distributed €25,000 being €6,250 for the Colombian rider and marking a clear advantage of 2 seconds before his closest rival.
The world number 196 Dayro Arroyave added his twelfth FEI victory in his career and the third this 2017, surpassing Belgian rider Gilles Detry with his 15-year-old gelding Catwalk Capone (Upsilon van de Heffinck x Brett Saint Clair) in time of 38.73 seconds and third place Joe Clee of Great Britain registered a time of 38.76 seconds with the 14-year-old gelding Alzu Ohio (Optimum Vd Wellington x Bambix).
The top five finishers were completed by Cecilie Hatteland of Norway in 38.89 seconds to take fourth place alongside the 12-year-old gelding Alex (Oklund x Fruhling/Landjonker) and fifth place Ina von Bormann from Germany accompanied by the 10-year-old mare Rahmannshof Black Pearl (Count Grannus x Carbid) in 39.74 seconds.
The Latino Ranking representatives led by the winner Dayro Arroyave from Colombia, also had the performance of Brazilian rider Fernando Chiarotto Penteado with the 14-year-old stallion Catija ET Z, but opted to retire during his regular round.
