Irish rider Dermott Lennon added his second’s day victory by leading the €24,600 Lacera Trophy at CSIO5* Gijón 2017.
The course designed by Spaniard Avelino Rodriguez Miravalles was attended by 47 pairs in a Winning Round class and Irish Dermott Lennon with the 12-year-old mare Fleur IV (Chatman x Darco) owned by Rebecca Mcgoldrick, finishing on time of 43.04 seconds.
With his result Dermott Lennon secured 50 World Ranking Points and marked the beginning of the week CSIO5* in Spain. The second place was occupied by Dutch rider Eric van der Vleuten with the 12-year-old mare Quivive SZ (Quasimodo Z x Amsterdam) in 43.64 seconds and third place was for German rider Marc Bettinger next to the 9-year-old mare Incroyable of Muze (Nabab of Reve x For Pleasure) in 44.15 seconds.
For the Latino Ranking Mexican rider Federico Fernández finished in fourth place, stopping the clock in 44.57 seconds with the 16-year-old stallion Gitano (Caretano Z x Concorde). With the result Federico Fernandez took 35 FEI Ranking Points, while American Reed Kessler, who is part also of Pan American Ranking, was in fifth place with the 14-year-old gelding Cos I Can (Olympic Lux x Harlequin du Carel) at 45.09 seconds.
For other hand also by the latinos Mexican rider Ernesto Canseco finished seventh with the 10-year-old mare Celebrity VDL (Indoctro x Emilion) in a time of 45.36 seconds and Colombian rider Dayro Arroyave finished tenth with the 9-year-old gelding Uppercut Libellule (Jarnac SF x Papillon Rouge) in 47.05 seconds.
