To conclude the sixth week of the Winter Equestrian Festival, Diego Vívero of Ecuador secured his first win of the season with 11-year-old mare Bijoux (Cartani x Athletico) in the $50,000 National Grand Prix in the Derby Field at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.

Deciding everything in the tiebreaker round with 4 classified in a court designed by the British Richard Jeffery, Vívero take a time of 34,44 seconds with the Javier Estrada’s mare, to obtain a advantage superior to the 2 seconds on his nearer follower.

The second position was occupied by the American rider Taylor Land with the 17-year-old stallion For Edition (Forsyth FRH x Leggiero) in time of 36.56 seconds and the third place was taken by Nicole Shaninian-Simpson with the 9-year-old mare Akuna Mattata (Quinar x Landwind II) in 36.62 seconds.

The last runner-up in the jump-off was Olympic medalist Leslie Howard with 12-year-old gelding Street Legal (Shield II x Graf Sponeck), knocking down two obstacles in her run to totaling 8 fouls in 35.20 seconds, while the Canadian Jonathon Millar in the fifth place to complete the Top 5 with 4 fouls in the fastest regular round course in 86.30 seconds.
