Spanish rider Eduardo Alvarez Aznar commanded the Spanish rebellion in the CSI5* London Olympia, winning the €25,000 Santa Stake in a jump-off round.
Qualifying to the jump-off 10 of the 31 riders who started the class on course designed by Brazilian Guilherme Jorge, the Spanish rider Eduardo Alvarez Aznar took the first FEI points with the 12-year-old gelding Fidux (Malito de Reve x Voltaire) owned by Kaliyuga SL.
Rounding out his field Eduardo Alvarez Aznar in 33.91 seconds to ensure 50 World Ranking Points, commanding the Spanish rebellion to finishing one-two with Manuel Fernandez Saro, who was presented with the 13-year-old gelding Cannavaro (Cornet Obolensky x Florestan I) and recorded a time of 34.07 seconds.
Followed in the final order for third place Michael Whitaker of Great Britain accompanied by the 11-year-old mare Jb’s Hot Stuff (Locarno 62 x Cavalier Royale) in 34.31 seconds, fourth place Alberto Zorzi of Italy in 34.45 seconds with the 13-year-old gelding Ego van Orti (Vigo d’Arsouilles x Darco) and fifth French rider Olivier Robert in 37.10 seconds represented the last double clear round with 10-year-old gelding Tempo de Paban (Quatar de Plape).
For the Pan American Ranking the two-time US Olympic medalist Laura Kraut totaled 8 fouls in her regular round along with the 11-year-old gelding Deauville S (Diamant de Semilly x Lux Z), being out of the points in 22nd place.
