Emanuele Gaudiano opens the CSI 5* Basel as a lightning bolt.

The first class of the CSI 5* Basel (Switzerland), one of the most important competitions of the first month of the year, was won by the fast Italian rider Emanuele Gaudiano.

Counting with a great amount of stars of show jumping, it was disputed the Prize of Grosspeter Nutzfahrzeuge AG that distributed 30,6000 CHF to a height of 1.45m and being speed its main factor for the competition, Emanuele Gaudiano with 8-year-old mare Carlotta (Chaccomo x Cento) owned by Equita Kft, completed their round in time of 52.67 seconds to get 50 World Ranking points, which result allowed him to take a 2-second lead against compatriot Luca Maria Moneta.

Making it clear that he is today one of the most effective riders in speed class, Guadiano led Italy’s one-two alongside Moneta who stopped the clock in 54.60 seconds with the 16-year-old gelding Neptune Brecourt (Cumano x Kayack) owned by Riders SRL, being the Swiss Olympic medalist Steve Guerdat who would finish in the third place with the 9-year-old mare Dioleen (Rhodium x Weltino) owned by Lutta Gian-Battista in time of 55.06 seconds.

Completed the Top 5 Pieter Devos of Belgium in a time of 55.36 seconds with 10-year-old gelding Haloubet Hitchcock (Baloubet du Rouet x Heartbreaker) to finishing in fourth place and fifth was to another home representative who completing his round in 56.36 seconds by Pius Schwizer and 10-year-old gelding Balou Rubin R (Balou du Rouet x Couleur-Rubin).

The event counted on the participation of number 1 and number 2 of the FEI World Ranking, where the leader Daniel Deusser of Germany finished in the 13th position with Cornet d’Amour (Cornet Obolensky x Damiani) in time of 66.59 seconds, while also German rider Christian Ahlmann was eliminated with Aragon Z (Askari x Kolibri).
