Belgian rider Francois Mathy Jr set the pace in the speed class and took the first FEI victory of the CSI5* Partner Pferd Leipzig in Germany.
The course designed by German Frank Rothenberger had a total of 61 pairs competing for the €26,866 IDEE Kaffee-Preis plus a car to the first place, resulting Francois Mathy Jr of Belgium the fastest with the 13-year-old stallion Falco van de Clehoeve (Quickfeuer van Koekshof x Fellini) owned by Ingrid Norman.
Marking an unbeatable time of 52.82 seconds on part of Francois Mathy Jr, the Belgian rider secured 50 World Ranking points and automobile as part of first prize, while second place was taken by Swiss rider Martin Fuchs next to the 9-year-old mare Dubai du Bois Pinchet (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Andiamo) in 54.25 seconds.
The home riders made themselves felt in third and fourth place when Felix Hassman with the 13-year-old gelding SL Brazonado (Sl Baluarte x Silvestre) finished third in 54.59 seconds and former World Ranking Leader Daniel Deusser got a time of 54.61 seconds with the 11-year-old gelding Sx Hidalgo v. (Quadrillo x Andiamo) in fourth place.
By Pan American Ranking stood out American rider Redd Kessler finishing in fifth place, being her time of 54.72 seconds with the 13-year-old mare KS Stakki (Stakkato Gold x Silvio I), to get her first World Ranking points of the Leipzig week.
Turning to the Latin Ranking Yuri Mansur of Brazil completed the last clear round finishing 22nd, stopping the clock in 66.75 seconds with the 10-year-old mare Tinkerbell 31 (Incolor x Argentinus). For his part, Colombian rider Carlos Lopez did not have a good beginning with the 10-year-old mare Ulhane de Conde (Jarnac x Corland) finishing 58th with accumulated 17 faults.
