French rider Gregory Cottard was very fast in the $25,000 Sommer of CSI5* Equita Lyon, securing victory and one-two for his country.
Being the course designed by Gregory Bogo, a total of 30 pairs encouraging the speed class and led by the fasted display of Gregory Cottard with his 12-year-old mare Regate d’Aure (Robin II Z x Drakkar des Hutins), marked on blackboard an unbeatable time of 59.61 seconds that earned him 50 World Ranking Points plus his first victory of the week.
Guiding equally the one-two for the home riders, Gregory Cottard was escorted by the always effective in speed classes Julien Epaillard appearing with his 9-year-old stallion Usual Suspect d’Auge (Jarnac x Papillon Rouge) and completing the last time below the 60 second barrier in 59.79 seconds.
The Latino Ranking delegation had an excellent last day in this first class of the CSI5* Equita Lyon, when Colombian rider Rene López completed his field in 63.38 seconds accompanied by the 13-year-old gelding Con Dios III (Colman x Romino) and securing 40 World Ranking Points with its third position. Also Brazilian rider Yuri Mansur maintained the rhythm to escort the Colombian in fourth place, being his time of 63.55 seconds with the 10-year-old gelding Inferno (Incolor x Italic des Salines), representing 35 FEI Ranking Points.
For the fifth place and completing the Top 5 was Darragh Kenny from Ireland, appearing with the 9-year-old gelding C’est Beau (Calido I x Grannus) finishing in 64.19 seconds.
Also by the Latinos they saw action Carlos Lopez of Colombia with the 10-year-old mare Cuplandra (Upgrade x Metall), marking a conservative rhythm and being penalized with 3 fouls in 89.93 seconds to be ranked 15th. In the case of the Latino Ranking leader Pedro Veniss of Brazil, could not add World Ranking Points to finish in 23rd place with the 12-year-old mare For Felicila (For Pleasure x Espri), resulting in 5 fouls in 81.00 seconds.
