World No. 6 Harrie Smolders of the Netherlands took the first victory of the CSI4* Samorin, dominating the Coca-Cola Trophy speed class.

The course designed by Italian Uliano Vezzani with 44 pairs animating the first FEI points that were shared, were led by 2017 Longines Global Champions Tour Champion’s Harrie Smolders, completing his round in 62.81 seconds with the 13-year-old gelding Zinius (Nabab by Reve x Kannan) owned by Eurohorse BVBA – Axel Verlooy.

Securing 50 World Ranking Points for Harrie Smolders, he surpassed in a close fight the young American rider Lucas Porter, who registered a time of 63.03 seconds with 12-year-old mare Diamante Darco (Unbelievable Darco) owned by Sleepy P Ranch Llc, taking 45 FEI Ranking Points, while third place was Swiss rider Martin Fuchs with the 13-year-old gelding Cool and Easy (Contender x Riverman) in 63.07 seconds.

The top five qualified of the X-Bionic Sphere Indoor Masters were completed by Lance Whitehorse of Great Britain, with a time of 64.45 seconds next to the 15-year-old stallion Vik II (Cantos) and fifth place Romain Duguet from Switzerland in 65.42 seconds accompanied by the 11-year-old mare Sherazade du Gevaudan (Tinka’s Boy x Lake C).

By Pan American Ranking also figured US rider Wilton Porter to leave everything between Porte’s brothers, being his location in sixth place with the 10-year-old stallion Caletto Cabana (Cassini I x Capecanaveral) in 65.75 seconds.

Turning to the Latino Ranking Jose Maria Larocca of Argentina got World Ranking Points with his 13th place next to the 13-year-old gelding Eliot DWS (Winningmood x King Z) in 75.51 seconds, but did not suffer the same fate when knocking down a pole on Brazilian rider Joao Victor Castro with the 11-year-old gelding Quentin PJ (Quidam de Revel x Escudo 19) occupying 19th place and his time was 65.43 seconds. For its part, the former Latino Ranking Leader Marlon Modolo Zanotelli of Brazil did not get an effective round with the 8-year-old gelding El Dorado (Indorado x Heartbreaker) totaling 8 fouls in 33rd place.
