British rider Joe Whitaker easily dominated the €24,600 The British Speed Classic, to finish one-two home riders at Hickstead.

With a total of 23 pairs evaluated by Philip Kelvin Bywater’s course designed Table C, home rider Joe Whitaker stopped the clcock in 59.75 seconds with Mr Steven Whitaker’s 10-year-old mare Lavarno to secure 50 World Ranking Points in the closing of the penultimate day of the Longines Royal International Horse Show, Hickstead.

The second place was for Nigel Coupe completing the British one-two, then he will finish almost 3 seconds behind Joe Whitaker alongside the 13-year-old mare Jubilee III (Wolkentanz II x Wanduss) in 62.31 seconds and third place was occupied by the French rider Benoit Cernin with the 10-year-old stallion Tea Star D’Oyale (Quick Star x Royal Feu) in 62.65 seconds.

For Latino Ranking the Brazilian rider Luiz Felipe de Acevedo Filho finished 11th to take World Ranking Points with the 11-year-old mare Berdina (Untouchable x Naturel), registering a time of 66.13 seconds and being escorted in 12th place by Mexican rider Patricio Pasquel, who showed up with the 13-year-old gelding Careyes (Convert x Landgold) to finish in 66.39 seconds.

Also participated by Pan American Ranking the American rider Reed Kessler, but opted to retire with the 12-year-old mare KS Stakki (Stakkato Gold x Silvio I).
