Belgian rider Jos Verlooy showed his class in a tight victory of €24,600 Prijs STX at CSI2* Lier Azelhof Horse Events in Belgium.
Leading at home the tiebreaker round on course designed by Marc Jozef Vygh, Jos Verlooy plus 22 classified riders animated a very disputed round, but none could be faster than the winner, completing in 38.25 seconds his field with the 8-year-old gelding Zapatero VDM (Eldorado van de Zeshoek x For Pleasure).
Achieving 50 World Ranking points for Jos Verlooy, it was not easy to dominate the class, being very close in second place and also Belgian rider Thierry Goffinet in 38.51 seconds with the 11-year-old mare Aagje de Bioagrico (Corland x Lombard ), while third place was occupied by Italian rider Filippo Tabarini accompanied by the 11-year-old mare Gipsy of Heritage (Grandeur x Baloubet du Rouet) in 39.06 seconds.
The home riders were in charge of the Top 5 with Vincent Lambrecht finishing in fourth place with the 8-year-old mare Just Energie in 39.11 seconds and fifth Gudrun Patteet in 39.60 seconds with the 8-year-old mare Sea Coast Clintissima Z (Clintissimo Z x Picasso).
By the Latino Ranking Mark Bluman from Colombia stood out with the 9-year-old stallion Ivory de Roulard (Kashmir Van Schuttershof x Le Tot de Semilly), completing his tiebreaker in 4 fouls and 42.23 seconds to finished 12th and add World Ranking points, like Marlon Modolo Zanotelli of Brazil escorting him in 13th place next to the 12-yaer-old stallion Rock’N Roll Seed (Diamant of Semilly x Apache D’adriers) in 4 fouls and 44.84 seconds.
Out of the points by Latinos were Dayro Arroyave from Colombia finishing 31st with the 10-year-old gelding Tanucci du Ter (Crown Z x Tenor De La Cour) and more distant in 92nd place the Brazilian rider Rodrigo Mesquita Marinho with the 15-year-old gelding Cleofas van Westuur (Toulon x Wibramino).
