French rider Julien Epaillard completed an impressive week, winning two of three FEI events at CSI 3* Knokke in Belgium.
The course designed by Luc Musette for 57 pairs was the perfect stage, where Julie Epaillard added his second victory in a row with a jump-off round integrate by 14 classified riders.
Introducing himself with the 9-year-old gelding Instit de Jucaso (Cooper van de Heffinck x Darco), Julien Epaillard recorded a time of 32.43 seconds to secure 50 World Ranking Points, surpassing this time Jaroslaw Skrzyczynski of Poland and his 8-year-old gelding Silver Shine (Calif. (Holst) x Balou du Rouet (Old)), who completed their round in 33.78 seconds. For third place Lisa Nooren of the Netherlands finished in 33.79 seconds, only one hundredth slower than the Polish, being accompanied by the 10-year-old mare VDL Groep Centora de Wallyro (Dobel’s Cento x Aledo).
The Top 5 was completed by two British riders with Ben Maher in fourth place in 33.86 seconds alongside 8-year-old gelding Winning Good (Winningmood van de Arenberg x Sir Corland) and fifth Samuel Hutton with the 11-year-old gelding The Dude (Carry Gold x Argentinus) in 34.17 seconds.
For the Latino and Pan American Ranking Dayro Arroyave of Colombia was the most outstanding in sixth place, recording a time of 36.49 seconds with the 9-year-old mare Infinity (Cicero Z568000 x Ditmar 85,514), American rider Emily Shirt with the 12-year-old gelding Coco II (La Poco x Calato) was eighth in 37.05 seconds and the Chilean rider Bernardo Naveillan with the 8-year-old mare Daisy du Grand Moustier (Quaser de l’Ile x Fidji du Fleury) took 14th place totaling 8 fouls in 35.95 seconds to close the jump-off.
