The conclusion of the CSIO5* Roma Pizza di Siena ended with Jur Vrieling of the Netherlands as winner, cutting off the possibility to the house riders Alberto Zorzi and Lorenzo de Luca finishing like the Italian one-two.
With the participation of 48 pairs, the €200,000 Loro Piana Grand Prix “Città di Roma” was held in double round, where Dutchman Jur Vrieling finished perfect, being the only rider to doit with his 11-year-old stallion VDL Glasgow vh Merelsnest (Nabab de Reve x Darco) owned by VDL Stud. Recording a time of 50.32 seconds, the winner taked 130 World Ranking points and a prize of €50,000 to cut the rush from home riders, who ultimately had to settle for second and third place.
The Italians Alberto Zorzi and Lorenzo de Luca would escort the leader with Zorzi who scored the fastest time in 45.92 seconds and 4 fouls, accompanied by 12-year-old mare Fair Light van T Heike (Vigo d’Arsouilles x Darco), while the second best seed of the class and World No. 6 Lorenzo de Luca, recorded a time of 46.02 seconds with 13-year-old gelding Ensor of Litrange LXII (Nabab of Reve x Mr Blue).
For Latino Ranking Argentina’s José María Larocca was completing his first round in 12 faults with 9-year-old stallion Diablo Blanco (Chacco-Blue x Cento), a result that would leave him very far to add World Ranking points in 39th place. The other to participate was the Peruvian rider Alonso Valdez Prado, demolishing 4 rails in his round to finish in 44th place with 17 fouls along with 10-year-old gelding Chief (Verdi x Argentinus).
The best seed of the competition and representative of the Pan American Ranking Eric Lamaze of Canada, did not get his pass to second round when he could not specify a good result, where he even exceeded the time allowed for the first round, totaling 5 faults with 11-year-old gelding Chacco Kid (Chacco Blue x Come On) in the 29th position.
