The American rider Katherine Strauss got her first win of the week at Devon Horse Show & Country Fair 2017, after an inspired tiebreaker round, to earn 50 World Ranking Points.
Taking a time of 39.03 seconds with the 12-year-old gelding All In (Aachen x Orlandaise), Katherine Strauss set the tone for a group of 7 runners-up after the regular round of 37 pairs. Keeping away two tough competitors such as Laura Chapot and Georgina Bloomberg, the winner took her first 2017 FEI victory and second in her young career, where she currently ranks 619.
The second position was for Laura Chapot and the 12-year-old mare Thornhill Kate (Courage II x Knockmeal Clover) recording a time of 41.17 seconds, while Georgina Bloomberg did it with the last double clear round in 44.86 seconds with the 12-year-old gelding Crown 5 (Cassini I x Hallig II).
For the Latino Ranking Puerto Rican rider Vasco Flores was the last of the jump-off competitors to finish seventh, in a field of 4 fouls and 43.38 seconds with the 11-year-old mare Calista (Cornet Obolensky x Poesie). Also Vasco Flores completed a regular field of 4 fouls with Balou 660 (Balou du Rouet x Rachel Z) in 17th place and Mexican Alberto Michan finished 22nd, accompanied by the 10-year-old mare Handy van HD (Tinka’s Boy x Candy) in a time of 70.64 seconds with 8 fouls.
