Good start for Frenchman Kevin Staut, who set the tone in the first class of the CSI 5* week in Gothenburg by stopping the clock in 54.92 seconds. The speed class was conformed by 33 pairs, served for that the winner was credited 50 World Ranking points.
With the 9-year-old mare Unna of Kerglenn Hdc (Cap Kennedy * oxen Margot x Diamant of Semilly) owned by S.A.R.L. Haras Des Coudrettes, former world No. 1 and current number 6 in the Ranking, outperformed Belgian Nicola Philippaerts who completed his run in 55.47 seconds with 13-year-old mare Ustina Sitte (Clinton x Parco) owned by Ludo Philippaerts & Horse of Belgiu, taking second place, while another French ex-number 1 of the World finished third, recording a time of 56.21 seconds for Simon Delestre and 12-year-old gelding Chesall Zimequest (Casall x Concerto 4) owned by M.Benoit Zimmermann et MSH Sa.
The Top 5 was completed in fourth place by Robert Smith of Great Britain with a time of 56.66 seconds with 9-year-old stallion Ilton (Dulf van den Bisschop x Calvaro) and fifth place was Pieter Devos of Belgium with the 14-year-old gelding Equipharma Dax van d’Abdijhoev (Desir du Chateau x Clinton I) in 56.76 seconds.
The best seed of the competition, number 4 in the world and until recently world number 1 Christian Alhmann of Germany took the sixth position in 56.98 seconds with 16-year-old stallion Colorit (Coriano x Capitol).
