American rider Lauren Hough won the Longines Royal International Horse Show’s first class at Hickstead with a 4-cent second lead.
Three-time Pan American medalist Lauren Hough dominated the two phases of €24,600 The Bunn Leisure Trophy on course designed by Philip Kelvin Bywater, where she completed her tour in 42.20 seconds alongside the 12-year-old mare Adare (Royal Bravour x Burggraaf) owned by Willow Grace Farm, securing 50 World Ranking Points.
Representing her second 2017 FEI win, world number 38 Lauren Hough outlasted Briton Matthew Sampson by 4 hundredths of a second, who appeared with the 8-year-old stallion Jaguar VD Berghoeve (Emerald van’t Ruytershof x Nabab de Reve) in time of 42.24 seconds, while house representatives also occupied the next three positions with Robert Smith in third place, Robert Whitaker in fourth and fifth Spencer Roe.
By the Latino Ranking Luiz Felipe de Azevedo Filho of Brazil completed in time of 46.14 seconds his presentation with the 11-year-old stallion Chacito (Chacco-Blue x Daimler), to finish in seventh place and to be the only Latino within the points.
