Dutch rider Leopold van Asten completed the only double clear round of €24,600 Prijs Stephex Horseboxes, marking the beginning of CSI2* Lier in Belgium.
Guiding Leopold van Asten a group of 6 riders classified to the jump-off and after passing a regular round with 76 pairs on cours designed by Marc Jozef Vygh, he got the only perfect round in time of 36.62 seconds with the 13-year-old gelding VDL Groep Zidane (Heartbreaker x Calandro I), assuring with his victory 50 World Ranking Points.
While the time agency for world number 37 Leopold van Asten was not the fastest of the tiebreaker, he managed to complete his double clear round that allowed him to accumulate his fifth 2017 FEI victory and surpassed in a more conservative round by Italian rider Roberto Previtali with his 8-year-old stallion Romeo 88 (Contact van de Heffinck x Orlando) 1 foul in 45.02 seconds.
Completed the jump-off round to sixth place and all with the same 4 fouls the house rider Geoffrey Cobbaut in third place marking the best time in 35.91 seconds accompanied by the 9-year-old mare ID 1 (Diamant de Semilly x Ahorn Z), fourth place Charlotte Spaas Lecallois of France in 36.55 seconds with the 13-year-old mare Eblesse vh Scheefkasteel (Nonstop x Skippy II), fifth Italian rider Antonio Alfonso in 37.61 seconds with the 8-year-old mare Dream van Generhese (Idian Gold Van x Bon Master) and sixth British rider Joseph Clayton in 37.86 seconds next to the 11-year-old gelding Caruso 472 (Cornet Obolensky x First).
For the Latino Ranking were added FEI Ranking points by Brazilian rider Luiz Felipe de Azevedo Filho next to the 12-year-old gelding Chaccomo (Chacco-Blue x Contender) on a regular course of 4 fouls and 79.28 seconds finishing in 13th place.
