The first class of the day in the continuation of the ‘National’ CSI 5* presented by Rolex in Spruce Meadows, had a special dominion by the American riders and won by Leslie Howard, who headed one-two-three of her country.
With the disputed of the Encana Cup to a height of 1.45m who shared $35,000 in a course designed by Guilherme Jorge from Brazil, Leslie Howard accompanied by 9-year-old mare Donna Speciale (Cavalier x Concorde) owned by Peter Howard, completed her jump-off in 37.70 seconds, being the first of nine double clear rounds for a group of 15 classified. With her result Howard was credited 50 World Ranking Points.
Completed the one-two-three of Star Spangled Banner Adrienne Sternlicht in second place alongside the 12-year-old mare Raia Dhelby (Fergar Mail x Papillon Rouge) in time of 38.11 seconds and World No. 3 McLain Ward was third with the 10-year-old mare Tina La Boheme (Calvaro x Arpege Pierreville) in 38.69 seconds.
For Latino Ranking a large group was led by Brazilian rider Pedro Veniss, who to date had not concrete this week a good result in Calgary, but now he was upset with the fourth and fifth place, accompanied by the 9-year-old mare Cheindira (Chagall vd Burggrave x Darco) in 38.95 seconds and for the fifth with the 10-year-old stallion Tresor de Varende (Esprit de Cinquete x Apple de River) in 39.54 seconds. He was followed in a row by Mexicans Federico Fernandez in sixth with Bolt (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Type D’elle) scoring 39.66 seconds, seventh Jaime Azcárraga in 40.18 seconds with For Fashion (For Pleasure x Contender) and eighth was Luis Alejandro Plascencia recorded 42.96 seconds next to Da Vinci (Verdi x Concorde).
