For Lisa Goldman of Chicago, IL, victory was hers for the taking aboard Centurion B in the $40,000 Amalaya Investments CSI 3* Grand Prix. It was a large field of 59 riders, representing over 14 different countries, that competed over the track set by course designer Alan Wade; but for Goldman, it was only a competition between herself and the course. “I try not to think about who I’m up against,” said Goldman. And her strategy proved successful.

Goldman could be considered the queen of speed classes but her resume of grand prix wins continues to climb, especially hot of the HITS Ocala Circuit this past winter where she racked numerous placings and wins. There, she home wins for the $50,000 Tuffrider/Equine Couture Grand Prix, two $25,000 SmartPak Grand Prixs, $2,500 Brook Ledge Open Welcome, and the $10,000 Open Prix.

For Goldman, when the field narrowed to 10 for the jump-off, she felt confident in her approach.”The course was great. Alan Wade always builds such great courses and even with the rain yesterday, the footing was perfect,” Goldman said. Goldman was joined on the podium by Kevin Babington who placed second aboard Shorapur and Lorcan Gallagher who took home third.

With an exciting win under her belt at Split Rock, Goldman was especially grateful for the last minute decision to attend. “I had heard and seen some great coverage and photos from the event last year but when I was in Omaha last week so many people were talking about the show and coming to it, that I made the last minute decision to get my entries in,” said Goldman.
