Young American rider Lucy Deslauriers led the jump-off round of the $86,000 American Gold Cup Qualifier in North Salem, NY.
Dominating a very disputed jump-off with 7 riders on the course designed by Phillip Rozon, Lucy Deslauriers recorded a time of 37.66 seconds with her 12-year-old gelding Hester (Wandor van de Mispelaere x Palestro v Begijnakker), allowing her to add up to 80 World Ranking Points with its victory, while escorted by four times American Olympic medalist Beezie Madden.
The advantage gained by Lucy Deslauriers was 57 hundredths of a second to Beezie Madden with the 11-year-old stallion Breitiling LS (Quintero x Acord II), who finished their way in 38.23 seconds. Not too distant in third place was another American rider with the performance of Adrienne Sternlicht and her 12-year-old gelding Toulago (Toulon x Carthago Z), achieving a time of 38.42 seconds.
The double clear round present in the class was completed with fifth place, where the winner’s father Mario Deslauries of Canada was in fourth place accompanied by the 8-year-old mare Bardolina (Clarimo x Landos) in 39.95 seconds and fifth Ali Wolff was taken away from the United States in 40.21 seconds alongside the 12-year-old gelding Casall (Casall x Capitol I).
For Latino Ranking added FEI Ranking Points the Mexican rider Alberto Michan finishing 16th, accumulating 5 faults in 75.02 seconds with the 11-year-old gelding Redmond (Neo d’Aunou x Joly Jumper). For his part the other Mexican Santiago Lambre escorted him in 17th place with the 9-year-old mare Doloris (Harley VDL x Colorado D), leaving no chance of points on field of 5 fouls and 75.09 seconds. Also failed to appear in the points Luis Pedro Biraben of Argentina totaling 20 fouls in 42nd position and former Latino Ranking leader Samuel Parot of Chile, retired for second class in a row.
