Under course designe of Ken Krome, 17-year-old Lucy Deslauriers stunned the $100,000 Suncast 1.50m Championship Jumping Classic, with 49 appearances in the regular round and 7 qualifiers for the jump-off.
Delauriers with 12-year-old gelding Hester (Wandor van de Mispelaere x Palestro vd Begijnakker) owned by Lucy Deslauriers, completed her jump-off in 37.06 seconds to win a 12-cent lead over Ireland’s Darragh Kenny.
In what was a very tight final with a difference of less than 1 second in the top four places, Kenny marked his accustomed pace to be in second position with 10-year-old gelding Bolero III (Chatman x Darco) in 37.28 seconds, followed by his fellowmen Kevin Babington in the third place recording 37.48 seconds with 15-year-old gelding Mark Q (Obos Quality 004 x Positively), while in the fourth position Alex Granato finished with the 9-year-old gelding Carlchen W (Chacco-Blue x Continue) in 37.94 seconds. Finally another Irishman closed the top five in 39.14 seconds with Shane Sweetnam and 9-year-old gelding Main Road (Heartbeat x Irco Marco).
For the Latin Ranking, finished in the points Alonso Valdez Prado of Peru occupying the 10th position with the 9-year-old geding Chichester 3 (Casall x Cosimo) in course of 4 fouls and 70.56 seconds. Out of the points ended Rodrigo Pessoa of Brazil in the 17th place, Emanuel Andrade of Venezuela in 23rd, Diego Vívero of Ecuador in the 33rd place and Argentinean Gianni Gabrielli in the 40th position.
