Dutch rider Maikel van der Vleuten won the €92,000 Prize Massimo Dutti, marking the close of first day at CSI5* La Coruña – Casas Novas Winter Show.
Completing 44 pairs the regular round, only 10 riders would return to the jump-off with the world number 5 Dutchman Maikel van der Vleuten leading the decisive round with the 11-year-old gelding Salomon (Stolzenberg x Aramis) owned by Marta Ortega, being its time of 34.65 seconds.
Securing 100 World Ranking points for Maikel van der Vleuten with his victory, the second place was also Dutchman rider Leopold van Asten and his 10-year-old mare VDL Groep Miss Untouchable (Chacco-Blue x Aldatus) in time of 35.82 seconds, being the third place in power of German rider Ludger Beerbaum next to the 14-year-old mare Chiara (Contender x Coronado 3) in 36.62 seconds.
The top five riders were completed by Eduardo Alvarez Aznar of Spain, who for the second FEI class in a row ranks fourth, accompanied on this occasion by the 12-year-old gelding Rokfeller de Pleville Bois Mar (l’Arc de Triomphe x Apache d’Adriers) in 37.40 seconds and Arthur Da Silva of Switzerland was fifth with the 9-year-old stallion Inonstop van T Voorhof (Nonstop x Fortuin Z), completing his jump-off round in 37.93 seconds.
By Latino Ranking managed to add World Ranking points Carlos Lopez of Colombia, exceeding the time allowed on course designed by Santiago Varela in 11th place, to be penalized with 1 foul in 71.47 seconds with the 12-year-old gelding Admara 2 (Padinus x Murano). Also the former Latin Ranking leader Marlon Modolo Zanotelli of Brazil got points in 14th place with the 10-year-old mare Celena VDL (Mr. Blue x Chin Chin), to accumulate 4 fouls in his regular round.
Out of the points by Latinos were Luiz Felipe de Azevedo Filho of Brazil ranked 24th next to the 12-year-old gelding Chaccomo (Chacco-Blue x Contender), Rene López from Colombia accumulated 12 fouls with the 13-year-old gelding Con Dios III (Colman x Romino) in 37th place and José María Larocca of Argentina ran less luck in 42nd place, totaling 19 faults with the 13-year-old gelding Eliot DWS (Colman x Romino) .
