The Spanish rider Manuel Fernández Saró shone in the first week of the XXIII Sunshine Tour, to be credited with winning the CSI3* Sunshine Tour Grand Prix with 13-year-old gelding Eliot DWS (Winningmood x Rey Z) owned by José María Larocca.
In a complicated route Fernández Saró finished in 41.79 seconds his course for a class that distributed 40,200 Euros and managing to get a near advantage of 3 seconds on Bernard Brian of France with his 13-year-old mare Cadillac du Heup (Helios de la Cour II x Thurin) with a time of 44.07 seconds. The Top 5 was completed in the third place by Lance Whitehouse of Great Britain in time of 49.53 seconds in company of 15-year-old mare Vik II (Cantos), the fourth place was occupied by Fabienne Daigneux-Lange of Belgium and Venue D’Fees des Hazalles (President x Alcatraz) and fifth was the Irish Billy Twomey with Eindhoven GH (Vaillant x Sheraton).
For the Latin Ranking the Argentinean José María Larocca stood out in the sixth place, exceeding the time allowed for the regular round and being penalized with 1 foul along the 13-year-old stallion Cornet du Lys (Cornet Obolensky x Champion du Lys) to add 25 FEI Ranking Points, followed by the Brazilian Pedro Veniss occupying the 11 position with For Felicila (For Pleasure x Espri) in field of 4 faults and 81.39 seconds. Out of the points, Colombian Dayro Arroyave finished with the same 4 fouls, but in the 18th place with Uciano de la Botte (Luciano x Arpege Pierreville), while Colombians Carlos López and Chilean Tomas Couve retired in their respective regular rounds.
