German rider Marcus Ehning took the final victory of the CSI5* Madrid Horse Week by lifting the Estrella Damm Trophy in a class of 47 pairs.
The course designed by Javier Trenor at a height of 1.50 meters, saw Marcus Ehning mark the fastest time in the Winning Round with the 12-year-old stallion Funky Fred (For Pleasure x Pilot) owned by Sportpferde Ehning GbR, ensuring 100 World Ranking Points.
As the time for Marcus Ehning of 39.21 seconds, the German rider surpassed for 60 hundredths of a second Swede Henrik von Eckermann and his 10-year-old stallion Chacanno (Chacco-Blue x Kannan) to occupy second place, while third position was Irish rider Cameron Hanley carried her 9-year-old mare Eis Isaura (Tinka’s Boy x Darco) in 41.35 seconds.
For the fourth place Michael Whitaker, first class week’s winner, recorded a time of 41.82 seconds with the 11-year-old mare Jb’s Hot Stuff (Locarno 62 x Cavalier Royale) and fifth place Italian rider Alberto Zorzi finished in 43.19 seconds accompanied by the 8-year-old mare Viceversa de la Roque (Kannan x Diamant de Semilly).
By Latino Ranking again Carlos Lopez of Colombia obtained a good result, adding 45 World Ranking Points with his seventh place when being accompanied by the 10-year-old mare Cuplandra (Upgrade x Metall), his time of 38.57 seconds being the best Winning Round time, but it knocked down a pole that sent it from the first to seventh. Also added points Luiz Felipe de Azevedo Filho of Brazil, to be ranked 14th with the 12-year-old gelding Chaccomo (Chacco-Blue x Contender) and result of 1 failure in 75.29 seconds.
Who if he could not add FEI Ranking Points was Yuri Mansur from Brazil, being very close to achieving in 17th place, but his time was not fast enough in 1 foul with 10-year-old gelding Inferno (Incolor (old) x Italic des Salines). For his part Rene Lopez from Colombia accumulated 22 fouls in the first round, placing him 38th with the 13-year-old gelding Con Dios III (Colman x Romino).
