Continuing with third day of CSIO5* Rome Piazza di Siena had a very exciting jump-off round end, being the winner with 40 hundredths of second advantage the French rider Mathieu Billot, liquidating the house rider Lorenzo de Luca.
Disputing the €70,300 Piazza di Siena Intesa Sanpaolo, Mathieu Billot was presented with 9-year-old mare Ilena S (Verdi x Calido I) owned by Scea Ecurie Billot-M. Serge Batailler, getting 80 World Ranking points with his victory in time of 37.58 seconds. The Italian rider World N. 6 Lorenzo de Luca, completed his course in 37.98 seconds accompanied by 10-year-old stallion Halifax van het Kluizebos (Heartbreaker x Fetiche Du Pas) owned by Stephex Stables, while the third and fourth place was for the Irish riders, being third Shane Sweetnam with 9-year-old gelding Main Road (Heartbeat x Irco Marco) in 39,42 seconds and fourth Thomas Ryan next to 13-year-old gelding Quite Zero (Quite Capitol x Landgraf I ) in time of 39.57 seconds.
For Latino Ranking got 30 FEI Ranking points, José María Larocca of Argentina, completing his jump-off clear round in 44.24 seconds, being the last double clear round of the class with 13-year-old stallion Cornet du Lys 22 (Cornet Obolensky x Champion du Lys). Peruvian rider Alonso Valdez Prado also participated, but did not have the same luck in getting his pass to the tiebreaker, after he finished his regular round in 13 fouls with 10-year-old gelding Chief (Verdi x Argentinus) in 49th place.
The best seed of event and World No. 4 Eric Lamaze of Canada, totalizes a round of 9 faults with 12-year-old stallion Coco Bongo (Caretino x Calido), being in a distant 41st place.
