The three-time US Olympic medalist and World No. 2 McLain Ward completed a perfect day, winning the $35,000 Welcome Stake of North Salem CSI 3*, where he managed to occupy one-two in final order for second day of 2017 Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows.

Being the speed class designed by Alan Wade of Ireland, former World No. 1 McLain Ward gave no chance to his opponents, getting first place plus 50 World Ranking points with 15-year-old gelding HH Carlos Z (Chellano Z x Voltaire) owned by Double H Farm, stopping the clock in 67.23 seconds, while for second place an early in the competitions by 68.55 seconds with 10-year-old mare Tina La Boheme (Calvaro x Arpege Pierreville) allowed him to securing the one-two, being the second FEI victory for the American rider in these two weeks at New York.

Completed the Top 5 in third place and set a time of 70.55 seconds for Peter Wylde with 11-year-old mare Paloma (Canaletto S x Henzo de la Brasserie), followed in fourth place by Amanda Derbyshire of Great Britain registering a time of 70.75 seconds alongside 11-year-old mare Lady Maria BH (Cartani x Corrado I) and fifth American rider Georgina Bloomberg in 71.43 seconds with 12-year-old mare Manodie II H (Carthago x Zeus).
