The young Irish rider Michael Duffy surprised at the €30,000 Prix MMA of the CSI5* Valence, taking a comfortable victory in speed class.
For the group of 30 teams on course designed by Italian Uliano Venzzani, Michael Duffy completed his run in a fast 64.74 seconds with the 12-year-old stallion Millfield Ultymate (Ulysses M2s x Condios), for his first 2017 FEI victory.
The world number 327 Michael Duffy’s lead was close to 3 seconds, beating Frenchman Edward Levy and his 12-year-old mare Rafale d’Hyverniere (Chef Rouge x Le Plantero), who finished in 67.48 seconds.
Colombia’s Carlos Lopez finished in 69.38 seconds with the 9-year-old mare Ulhane de Conde (Jarnac x Corland), securing 40 World Ranking Points thanks to his third place, while Colombian Dayro Arroyave also finished in seventh place with the 9-year-old gelding Uciano of the Botte (Luccianno x Arpege Pierreville) in 74.65 seconds.
Also for the Pan American Ranking maintained its good level of the week the four times Olympic medalist American Beezie Madden placing tenth with the 8-year-old gelding Con Taggio (Contagion x Golliath Life) and world number 1 Kent Farrington finalized in 12th place with the 11-year-old mare Gazelle (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Indoctro).
