The second day of the CSI 4* The Shira’aa Hickstead Derby Meeting played a leading role by the home riders and especially for the Whitaker’s Family, with victory for Michael Whitaker and second place for his nephew William Whitaker.
With the participation of 45 pairs on course designed by Philip Bywater, the British shone from start to finish, taking 14 of the top 15 places, where winner Michael Whitaker accompanied by the 15-year-old gelding Viking (Jacomar x Almox Prints) owned by Miss M Braybrooke, completed the only double clear round of the class in 71.50 seconds, to add 50 World Ranking Points.
Remaining in the family, his nephew William Whitaker finished his jump-off in 4 fouls with 70.25 seconds next to the 14-year-old gelding Glenavadra Brilliant (Brilliant LAD x Powerswood Purple), to occupy the second place meaning 45 World Ranking Points, being escorted by Joss Williams in third to close the tiebreak round with 8 fouls and 72.90 seconds accompanied by the 17-year-old mare Culmore Prospect (White Clover x Knave of Hearts).
For the Latino and Panamerican Ranking, only Carlos Eduardo Mota Ribas of Brazil was present, completing his field in 16 fouls along with the 14-year-old gelding Wilexo (Phin Phin x Calvados) to occupy the 31st place.
