Belgian rider Nicola Philippaerts set the pace to win the €92,000 Global Champions League – Round I, beating Irishman Denis Lynch.

For the second FEI event of the Longines Global Champions Tour in London, Nicola Philippaerts got an excellent tiebreaker to stop the clock in 39.13 seconds with the 11-year-old stallion Aikido Z (Accardi x Corrado I), a result that allowed him to add 100 World Ranking Points.

The double clear round extended to fifth place in a complicated and demanding jump-off, with Denis Lynch take second-place with the 14-year-old stallion All Star 5 (Argentinus x Alme) in time of 39.61 seconds. For third place Christian Kukuk of Germany accompanied by the 10-year-old stallion Limonchello NT (Lord Caletto x Calido I) registered 39.84 seconds, followed in fourth place by Swedish Henrik von Eckermann next to the 11-year-old mare Mary Lou 194 (Montendro x Portland L) in 41.19 seconds and fifth was the French Penelope Leprevost with a time of 44.14 seconds accompanied by the 12-year-old stallion Vagabond de la Pomme (Vigo D Arsouilles Stx x For Pleasure).

For the Pan American Ranking Canadian Tiffany Foster finished in ninth place With the most outstanding performance by the region in 4 fouls and 38.93 seconds in her jump-off next to the 11-year-old gelding Brighton (Contender II x Quick Star).

By the Latino Ranking Emanuel Andrade of Venezuela finished in 31st place with the 12-year-old mare Reus de la Nutria (Zandor Z x Kannan), completing his course in 4 fouls and 78.91 seconds. For his part the Brazilian Rodrigo Pessoa along with the 9-year-old stallion Chaganus (Chacco-Blue x Carthago), accumulated 8 faults in his route occupying the 40th place.
