Nigel Coupe and Golvers Hill in charge of €25,500 Gulf News Cup.

British rider Nigel Coupe took the first victory in the opening of second day at CSI5* FEI World Cup – Arab League – Emirates Equestrian Club Dubai.

Disputing the €25,500 Gulf News Cup in Dubai, British rider Nigel Coupe accompanied by his 15-year-old gelding Golvers Hill (Ricardo Z x Clover Hill) owned by Susan Simmons, secured 50 World Ranking points with his victory, after he stopped the clock in 46.23 seconds.

The course designed by also British Robert Ellis for 32 pairs, had a decisive jump-off round with 9 riders and Nigel Coupe as main protagonist, beating by tight advantage to Khalid Hilal Al Khatri of Bahrain with the 13-year-old mare Sierra (Silvio) recording a time of 46.49 seconds.

The Top 5 of the third FEI event at the Emirates Equestrian Center was completed by Derin Demirsoy of Turkey in third place with 15-year-old gelding Dadjak ter Puttenen (Toulon x Vanitas) in time of 47.30 seconds, fourth place Rene Tebbel of Ukraine with 9-year-old mare J’adore van’t Voortveld (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Bigarreau du Cap) in 49.88 seconds, while Belgian rider Celine Schoonbroodt – De Azevedo took fifth place totaling 4 fouls in 45.45 seconds with the 9-year-old mare Venus de l’Eyre (Quick Star x Concorde).

By Pan American Ranking Alice Debany Clergy of the United States of America managed to add World Ranking points, finishing in 13th place with the 13-year-old mare Amareusa S (Baloubet du Rouet x Le Mexico) in a 4 fouls regular round and time of 76.21 seconds.
