Italian rider Paolo Paini grew up at home to win the €61,800 Grand Prix 3* Memorial Matteo Passera, occupying one-two by Italians.
The course designed by Uliano Vezzani had a total of 50 pairs encouraging the regular round and 12 riders who would return to the second round with Paolo Paini taking top honors.
Being only three riders who finished clear, Paolo Paini with the 11-year-old mare Ottava Meraviglia di Ca’ San G (For Pleasure x Caletto I) got the first place in time of 41.86 seconds and was escorted to the Italian one-two by Luca María Moneta, recording a time of 43.00 seconds with the 10-year-old stallion Tokyo du Soleil (Montender x Papillon Rouge).
For his part Niklaus Rutschi of Switzerland finished third with the 9-year-old gelding Cardano CH (Chameur x Apartigene v. Schilösslihof) in 44.10 seconds, being the last clear round, while fourth place and a fasted time than the winner, Petronella Andersson of Sweden finished in 41.56 seconds accumulating 4 fouls in her First Round with the 10-year-old mare Chloe’ (Chequille x Athletico).
The top five finishers was completed by Giovanni Sapuppo totaling 8 fouls, with 4 fouls in each round and time of 45.29 seconds with the 10-year-old gelding Collinus (Revend x Hemmingway Nabab).
