German rider Philipp Weishaupt won the €24,900 Al Shira’aa Arabian, being the second FEI class of the CSI4* Al Shira’a International Horse Show.
The course designed by Bernardo Costa Cabral of Portugal had a total of 49 riders cheering the Two Phases, but Philipp Weishaupt with the 10-year-old gelding Belo Horizonte (Baloubet du Rouet x Clearway) owned by Klaus Röpke, completed his journey in 30.62 seconds to ensure 50 World Ranking Points.
Marking the pace Philipp Weishaupt at second week’s class and represented his first 2018 victory, he managed to overcome in close fight world number 8 Henrik von Eckermann of Sweden, recording a time of 31.47 seconds with the 12-year-old gelding Artiste de l’Abbaye d’Aulne (Conquest van de Helle x Idem d’Azur) owned by Jean Guillaume.
They followed in the final order by Khaled Abdulrahman Almobty of Saudi Arabia occupying third place with the 15-year-old mare Evita (Darco x Fleuri du Manoir) in 31.47 seconds, fourth place Khalid Hilal Al Khatri of Bahrain in 32.39 seconds along with the 13-year-old mare Sierra (Silvio) and fifth place Tina Lund from Denmark in 32.97 seconds with the 14-year-old gelding Ziezo (Guidam x Wellington).
By Pan American Ranking participated the Americans Alice Debany Clero finishing in 21st place with the 13-year-old mare Amareusa S (Baloubet du Rouet x Le Mexico) and Emily Short finishing 36th with the 15-year-old gelding Duke of Carneval (Cardento I x Carneval).
