The first class of CSI 5* Longines Spring Classic of Flanders in Lummen, Belgium, had as a factor of evaluation the speed and being winner to Swiss rider Pius Schwizer, dominating with best time the speed class, stopping the clock in 68.05 seconds with 11-year-old gelding Leonord de la Ferme CH (Landjuweel x Indigene Of Corday) owned by Merkli Marcel.
With a total of 63 entries registered, the first competition in Lummen was held to take 50 World Ranking points by Olympic medalist Pius Schwizer, surpassing house’s rider Olivier Philippaerts and Jerome Guery. The second place was occupied by Philippaerts, completed his round in 69.88 seconds with 9-year-old stallion Ikker (Ogano Sitte x Up to Date) owned by Roger van Nuffelen, while Guery with 15-year-old stallion Papillon Z (Perhaps x Cassini ) owned by Yves Woitrin was third. Completed Top 5 Paolo Paini of Italy in fourth place in time of 70.34 seconds with 10-year-old mare Clodia CSG (Quidam of Revel x Landgraf I) and fifth Spanish rider Pilar Lucrecia Cordon registering 70.66 seconds with 11-year-old mare Gribouille du Lys (Quaprice Bois Margot x Venu du Theil).
For Latino Ranking only Cassio Rivetti from Brazil participate, being ninth with 9-year-old stallion Ut Majeur de Brecey (Diamant de Semilly x Quouglof Rouge), marking a time of 74.19 seconds.
