The CSI 4* HITS Thermal week in California began with the welcome news of a new win for veteran 20-years-old stallion Flexible owned by Harry & Mollie Chapman and led by his ever-teammate US Richard Fellers.
After his last victory in August at CSI 3* Langley, Rich Fellers now led another formidable track with his horse, to win the $34,600 HITS Welcome Stake, being the first class of the week in the mythical show that turns 25 years.
Being a very fight race, the winner added 50 World Ranking points, beating the Chilean Samuel Parot and 13-year-old gelding Atlantis (Andiamo x Royal Bravour L), owned by Parot and represents an important week in the sum of points for the south american rider, after losing the leadership of the Latin Ranking this month against Brazilian Cassio Rivetti, but now with 45 points, at the beginning of this week, determined to return to the top of the Classification for the region.
Completed the Top 5 of Welcome Andrew Ramsay in third place with 10-year-old gelding Stranger 30 (Stakkato x Cheenook), followed by Californian Richard Spooner and 17-year-old gelding Chivas Z (Cumano x Lord Gotthard), while Raymond Texel and 11-year-old mare Baldira (Baloubet du Rouet x Carthago) were in fifth place.
