The third day of the 85th CSIO5* Roma Piazza di Siena started with great surprise of home rider Roberto Turchetto, who marked the fastest time of €25,120 MAC-JTL speed class in a course designed by Uliano Vezzani, which took 50 World Ranking Points.
In a week full of big stars and several of the world’s best riders, World No. 527 Roberto Turchetto was getting his second 2017 FEI victory, after he stopped the clock in 55.75 seconds with 10-year-old stallion Topper Z (Triple X x Orame) owned by Anna Rees & Stefan Conter, beating French rider Mathieu Billot who completed his course in 56.58 seconds with 8-year-old mare Vialotta d’lck (Diamant de Semilly x Pilot) to occupy the second place, while Canadian rider and best representative of the Pan American Ranking Kara Chad in this class, seized third place by recording a time of 57.26 seconds with 11-year-old mare Bonita Z (Baron Cento Heldenlaan).
The three-time Olympic medalist and current World No. 4 Eric Lamaze of Canada, ranked fourth in time of 57.72 seconds next to 10-year-old mare Thalis de la Roque (Kannan x Quand Viens Tu), followed to complete the Top 5 in fifth place, the Italian rider Francesca Arioldi accompanied by 10-year-old gelding Loro Piana Celtic (Montender x Indoctro) in time of 57.88 seconds.
For Latino Ranking only participated the Argentine rider Jose Maria Larocca, who completing a clear round in 73.44 seconds with 9-year-old stallion Diablo Blanco (Chacco-Blue x Cento), a result that left him with no possibility to add FEI Ranking points.
