Again the Chilean Samuel Parot, leader of the Latin Ranking took the win at the 2017 Winter Equestrian Festival, getting the fastest time of $35,000 Douglas Elliman 1.45m CSI 4* in the closing week of the season.
In a delicate and technical course designed by Germany’s Olaf Petersen Jr., Parot and 13-year-old gelding Quick du Pottier (Hurlevent De Breka x Cuba) stopped the clock in 59.14 seconds, representing the fifth victory of the season for the Chilean and added in this opportunity 50 World Ranking points with the first place. Being the only one who managed to lower of 60-second barrier, Samuel set the distance to the American rider Lisa Goldman finished in second place in 62.60 seconds with 11-year-old gelding Sovereing (Frontal x Galoubet A). Completed the strong fight for first place in the third position, Conor Swail of Ireland recording a time of 62.82 seconds with the 11-year-old stallion Rubens LS La Silla (Rebozo LS La Silla x Cash).
For the Latin Ranking and undoubtedly the best representative this 2017 WEF Samuel Parot led a group of 10 competitors in the region, also entering in the points the Mexican Alberto Michan in the 11th and José Roberto Reynoso of Brazil was 15th, both with clear rounds. Out of the points were Luis Pedro Biraben of Argentina in position 17th, Emanuel Andrade of Venezuela with 4 fouls in the 24th, his fellowmen Juan Ortiz followed with the same number of fouls in place 30th, Colombian Jorge Andrés Barrera 33rd with 4 fouls, Eduardo Menezes of Brazil with 8 fouls of 38th while Luiz Francisco de Azevedo escorted him in position 39th, Pablo Barrios of Venezuela in 44th and Santiago Lambre of Mexico retired.
