Irish rider Shane Breen got off to a good start with the CSI4* Al Shira’aa International Horse Show, winning the €24,700 Team Z7 Cup in a tiebreaker round.

Introducing Shane Breen with the 12-year-old stallion Can Ya Makan (Canturo x Fara) owned by Team Z7, the Irish representative took their own cup in dispute, marking a time of 33.28 seconds in the jump-off round.

With a total of 46 pairs on course designed by Portuguese Bernardo Costa Cabral, 19 riders returned to the jump-off, but only 3 of them would not participate, taking top honors Sahne Breen to secure 50 World Ranking Points.

The second place was taken by Syrian rider Kotayaba Al Doygri with his 9-year-old stallion Queensland E (Quickfire De Ferann x Socrate De Chivre) in 33.57 seconds, followed in third place by world number 8 Henrik von Eckermann of Sweden with 12-year-old gelding Artiste de l’Abbaye d’Alune (Conquest van de Helle x Idem d’Azur) in 34.84 seconds and Cecilie Hatteland from Norway, took fourth place in 34.93 seconds with the 13-year-old gelding Alex (Oklund x Fruhling).

Completed the Top 5 Abdullah Al Sharbatly of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia accompanied by the 15-year-old gelding Woulon L (Toulon x G.Ramiro Z) with a time of 35.20 seconds.

For the Latino Ranking Luiz Felipe de Azevedo Filho of Brazil stood out in sixth place, allowing him to add good World Ranking points with the 13-year-old gelding Chaccomo (Chacco-Blue x Contender) owned by Haregabgaard, completing the tiebreaker round in 36.32 seconds, being the sixth of seven double clear rounds that completed the class.
