Belgian rider Virginie Thonon surprised at €61,800 Grand Prix Majesty the King Mohammed VI of CSI3*-W El Jadida, with an incredible jump-off round.

After completing a first round with 48 pairs on course designed by Italian Uliano Vezzani, a total of 12 riders would return to the second round, including two former world number 1 among the favorites, but it was Virginie Thonon who took the maximum honors with the only Grand Prix’s clear round.

Valid also for the World Cup Arabian League, Virginie Thonon with the 10-year-old stallion High Tech vy de Septon (Del Piero P&b) recorded their two perfect rounds in a time of 40.73 seconds and secured 80 World Ranking points.

For the second place one of the world’s number 1 and Swiss Olympic medalist Steve Guerdat completed his second fastest round in 38.95 seconds, but he knocked down a pole with the 10-year-old gelding Balou Rubin R (Balou du Rouet), while the third place was Bassem Mohammed of Qatar with 11-year-old gelding Argelith Squid (Salito) in 39.59 seconds and it was in his first round that he added the 4 fouls.

The fourth place fell on the former world ranking leader Simon Delestre from France accompanied by the 11-year-old gelding Gain Line (Stotzenberg), same horse with which he won the first FEI event of the week, but added the 4 fouls in his first round, leaving him without chance in time of 39.82 seconds. Another Frenchman was in charge of the fifth spot with Severin Hillereau next to the 12-year-old stallion Radja D’Artemis (Diamant de Semilly).
