Swiss rider Werner Muff took another win for his country, dominating the Championat of Stadt Base – “Golden Drum of Basel”.
After passing a regular round with 56 pairs on course designed by German Frank Rothenberger, only 9 riders returned to the jump-off with Werner Muff showing the way alongside the 10-year-old gelding Daimler (Canturano x Lupicor) owned by Marlis Mühlebach.
Completing his jump-off round totally in line with his strategy, Werner Muff achieved a time of 36.28 seconds to secure 80 World Ranking points and overcome Belgian rider Olivier Philippaerts with his 12-year-old mare H&M Legend of Love (Landzauber x Corgraf), who completed their course in 36.91 seconds and third place was Luciana Diniz of Portugal accompanied by the 14-year-old mare Fit for Fun (For Pleasure x Fabriano) finished in 38.72 seconds.
Two this week’s winners of Longines CSI5* Basel completed the Top 5 with German rider Marcus Ehning finishing in fourth place next to the 15-year-old stallion Cornado NRW (Cornet Obolensky x Acobat) in time of 38.92 seconds and fifth place Swiss Pius Schwizer finished in 39.71 seconds with the 9-year-old mare About A Dream (Clinton x Indoctro).
The best seed was world number 2 Harrie Smolders of Holland, but he did not manage to qualify for the jump-off being placed in 17th place with the 11-yearold gelding Cas 2 (Indoctro x Numero Uno).
By Latino Ranking Yuri Mansur of Brazil exceeded the time allowed to be penalized with 1 fault and totaled 5 fouls out of the points ranked 29th, after he stopped the clock in 76.21 seconds with the 11-year-old gelding Inferno (Incolor x Italic des Salines).
